Overview

MIUI Camera Feature Completion & Expansion (authored by Xiao Chen Tong Xue & xing1225) unlocks the rich suite of photographic and video recording algorithms developed by Xiaomi that are artificially disabled on mid-tier and regional ROM variants.

Xiaomi’s camera codebase shares a unified engine across flagship and budget devices, with advanced features selectively toggled via device feature configuration tables. This module provides a fully patched MiuiCamera.apk that enables advanced imaging capabilities across supported Snapdragon and MediaTek hardware.

Technical Architecture & How It Works

1. Privileged App Overlay

The module mounts a modified build of MiuiCamera (v4.3.001951.0, version code 211030) directly into the privileged system application path:

/system/priv-app/MiuiCamera/
└── MiuiCamera.apk

Because it resides in /system/priv-app/, the application retains all required private permissions, including:

• android.permission.CAMERA
• android.permission.CONTROL_CAMERA_SESSION
• Access to vendor proprietary camera HAL extensions (vendor.xiaomi.hardware.camera.provider).

2. Unlocked Photographic Capabilities

The modified application overrides device feature detection strings (support_camera_*), unlocking:

• Super Moon Mode: AI moon texture synthesis & telephoto exposure optimization.
• Clone Mode: Magic clone photo & video staging.
• Movie Frame: Cinematic 2.39:1 aspect ratio masking.
• Audio Zoom: Beamforming directional mic zoom during telephoto video.
• 480 FPS Slow Motion: High-speed sensor readout on Xiaomi Mi 10 & Mi 10S.
• Multi-Camera Director: Simultaneous video recording from 3 lenses on flagship platforms.

Verification & Troubleshooting

1. Clear camera application data after installation: Settings -> Apps -> Manage Apps -> Camera -> Clear Data.
2. Launch Camera and swipe right to More to inspect newly activated modes.
